#I CAN’T DEAL #she doesn’t figure it out until she sees the whip #because she ALSO can’t deal #everyone tries to get her out of there because they think she’ll make it worse #and i think peeta probably thinks she’ll make it worse too or at least wants to spare her the sight of it #probably because he knows katniss well enough to know that gale is something essential to her and when people essential to katniss are in danger she does things like volunteer for the hunger games #which is essentially what she does but with a different arena. she throws herself in front of a whip. #which was probably what everyone was afraid of. that she’d throw her body across his and get them both killed in the process #which doesn’t happen of course but it very much could have #this is the moment when katniss everdeen becomes a revolutionary #at least for a little while #katniss equates gale with revolution and if the capitol does this to gale then she’ll do it right back #that is textual that is in the text she thinks that #’i can die like quarry in the woods or i can die here besides gale’ and do not tell me she is not in love with him then #gale is hers. you cannot touch him. he belongs to her and the capitol almost took him away while she wasn’t there to save him. #but in the end she saves him. if she hadn’t shown up he’d have died. #he would have died #and she threw herself in front of a whip and brought everything to a stop #she saved his life with her BODY #it was as thoughtless and impulsive and emotion-laden as throwing her body into the games for prim #it is the same thing #she loves those two more than she loves herself. she doesn’t stop to think.
“What the…” Sherlock murmured, staring in awe at the spinning blue box that sped towards his moving taxi. Soon it was straight in front of him and the doors of the strange police box flew open; he was greeted by the Doctor who yelled at him urgently.
“Sherlock, you have to jump!”
The consulting detective wound down the window and tried to shout over the wind. “Don’t be ridiculous! Besides, I’ve had enough of jumping for a lifetime,” he added under his breath.
“The driver is a robot, it wants to kill you! It might be another of Moriarty’s creations. Look,” he said, noticing Sherlock’s scepticism, “Just trust me, you have to jump!”
